It’s me, in 2023

I always like the New Year’s holiday. I like that there are two aspects to it: 1) reflecting on the year that’s coming to a close, and 2) thinking ahead of the year to come. If you haven’t yet, you can read my blog post where I reflected on 2022; this one is about what I’m looking forward to in 2023.

Releasing new music

I am releasing the first single from my new album on 1/6/23. It’s called “You Won’t Ever Abandon Me” and I can’t wait to get this one out into the wild. It’s sunny, peppy, happy, and the message of it is encouraging. God won’t ever abandon us; hallelujah and amen. Pre-save it now, and when it comes out, please listen to it, add it playlists, share it with your friends and family, learn to play it on an instrument, make up a dance to it, write a rap verse to it… whatever! I hope that it can be a meaningful song to your soul like it’s been to mine.

Just between you and me… I’ll be releasing the second song from the album on February 3rd. (And psssst: I am REALLY excited about that one! It’s pretty different from my usual stuff, in a very fun way.)

I’ve got studio dates lined up in February to keep chipping away at this album. I’ve already got all the photos ready for the whole project (thank you, Liz Brown). 2023 will be a year of waiting in excited anticipation for me: I’ve got lots to share, but I have to pace myself. Keep following along — there will be lots of content!

Festivals

I am really looking forward to August 2023 because I’m booked to play at two super cool festivals!

I’ll keep you posted as I add more festivals and shows to my calendar. I have a few things in the works for this winter/spring, so stay posted! And as always, if you want to book a show at your venue, your church, or even your house, email me (hi@alliecrummy.com) and let’s plan it!!

Non-music things

Reading plans

I’m excited to start a couple reading plans. The Des Moines Public Library is doing a 2023 Reading Challenge, and I’ve signed up for it! If you’re a reader, have a DMPL card, and want to do the reading challenge too, let me know! We can swap notes on good books to read!

I am also excited to start a new Bible reading plan this month. I’ll be reading through the whole Bible in 90 days. The last few years, I’ve found that listening to the Bible has been more helpful for me than reading it, so I guess I should clarify that I plan to listen to the whole Bible in 90 days (I’m very thankful for the Bible app(s) that make(s) this possible!). If it takes me more than 90 days, then it takes me more than 90 days. But either way, I think the pace of this reading plan will be a cool way to take in the broader storyline of the Bible.

Travel plans

We have a couple trips penciled onto our calendar in 2023. One of the places has inspired our kids to check out a few “how to learn French” books from the library… Où serait-ce? (Thanks, Google translate.)

Mom things

This school year has been one where we intentionally said “yes” to more activities for our kids than we have in the past. It’s been an adjustment, but I’m really glad that we made that decision — I think it’s been very good for them! Two of them will be doing soccer in 2023, two of them will continue singing in a choir, all three of them will continue taking piano lessons, and one will continue taking violin lessons. Therefore, you will find me at a lot of soccer games, recitals, and concerts this year, and I’m here for it!
